Bonanza (1959)

Episode Overview

Set against a stunning outdoor backdrop, this episode feels more like a feature film. Captain Pender is on the hunt for a scout to guide him and his men through the desert while transporting a shipment of currency to another army fort. Charlie Trent, a washed-up former scout haunted by the massacre of his troops, struggles with his past and his current addiction. Hoss believes this journey could offer Charlie a chance at redemption and a shot at reclaiming his honor. Meanwhile, Captain Pender faces challenges with Cutter, a scheming and unscrupulous scout. After dismissing Cutter, Pender, with Hoss's encouragement, decides to enlist Charlie as their guide.
