A Decent Man (2025)

Episode Overview

While the British Empire claimed to bring peace, stability, and prosperity, its presence in Ireland and India was marred by violence and famine. This documentary explores the roots of these ongoing struggles and highlights the lack of political justice during that era. Victorian leaders Gladstone and Disraeli held contrasting views on the Empire, yet, as Schama notes, their noble aspirations often led to the disregard of human suffering in favor of market interests.
